What’s the measuring stick?  Growing up, I heard there were three possibilities –  loving God & people well (saints in Heaven), loving God well and people poorly (what “good” Christians do),  or loving people well and God poorly (what country/Kentucky people do). But lately, reading the OT prophets with The Bible Recap, I’m noticing different ideas…. * Micah - God’s judgement coming because people are being cruel/hateful to each other  * Isaiah - Lost people and Satan are alike in their pride, anger, & selfish/hateful behavior. God and His children are alike in humility, love, & trust. If you love God, then you’ll love people.  If you don’t love people, then you don’t love God.  It’s as simple as that.

When I was growing up, I read a lot of books about dating & romantic relationships. The one thing that’s stuck with me the most and that’s proved the most profitable is Eric & Leslie Lucy’s ideas on the stages of intimacy (ie, “the two shall become one”): In dating, cultivate spiritual intimacy (friendship).  In engagement, cultivate emotional intimacy (romance).  In marriage, culminate your relationship with physical intimacy (sex).  And then continue to develop all 3 kinds of intimacy/one-ness for the rest of your life!
