Christmas All Year/AKA Freedom in Christ π
I’m officially joining the early-Christmas-celebration crowd. π ❤️ π₯³ Growing up, I was taught there’s a right way to do EVERYTHING.
From one parent, if you don’t think/say/do stuff “the right way,” then you’re not a good Christian and you might not be a Christian at all. From the other parent, if you don’t think/say/do stuff “the right way,” then you’re not even a good person.
I’ve always been a rule-follower, and I put my trust in Jesus Christ when I was 8 years old; so I’ve just accepted what must obviously be “God’s one right way to do every little thing.” My parents both believed you shouldn’t celebrate Christmas till after Thanksgiving, so of course I knew their way is the only right way - God’s way.
Yes, I still love my parents very much & I think they were right about a lot of things. But doesn’t God love variety? He made everyone with unique fingerprints - why? To show us we can be different; we don’t all have to be the same. And lately I’ve been thinking, where does Thanksgiving come from? From God’s grace, especially as shown at Christmas when He gave us the Gift of all gifts - His only Son. So why not celebrate those two holidays together? You don’t have to; you do you - but I feel it’s the most natural thing in the world.
As the song says:
“You can have Christmas throughout the year. This joy that I’ve found gives me peace on the earth. It’s more than a feeling of holiday cheer - the gift Jesus gives us, gives on & on. And we can have Christmas all year!” π❤️
