Remember to Take Care of Kanga (Yourself) Too!
Please don’t look at this like a list of rules or a standard of good mothering or anything like that. This is just one mom sharing some blessings from her journey. Please comment with your own ideas for what blessed you in your journey!
• Put your contacts in. You’ll feel more capable (and the world’ll feel more manageable) once you can actually see. ๐
• Get dressed & do your makeup. You’ll probably be more confident & more productive all day!
• If the doctor’s put you on some kind of mental health related medicine, then take it! God made science & medicine. I believe He wants us to use the legitimate & reasonable helps available in our world!
• Have breakfast. Both physical & spiritual (see John 21:12a). You’ll need both physical & spiritual energy for the day! Coffee is a great physical proponent of this - just not in excess! Find some way of purposefully connecting with God each day. And if you have little kids, consider helping them start their day with God by reading a chapter in the Jesus Storybook Bible, or rehearsing one of Abeka’s Pre-K Bible Memory cards, or watching an episode of SuperBook - or by doing all three!
• Exercise. Work out with a Beachbody video, take a walk around your neighborhood, or better yet - do both!
• Watch your self-talk. God doesn’t expect us to be perfect, and we can’t expect ourselves to be perfect either. Hard things are part of life for everyone, and weakness is normal - we have to know that we’re weak before we can truly depend on God!
• Listen to hymns (“Alexa, play Abiding Radio”), other Christian music, audio readings of Scripture, etc.
Other helpful ideas may include taking a deep breath (or a few), tapping (https://www.thetappingsolution.com/), etc.
